Hard chrome plating vastly improves the wear resistance as it provides low friction and good thermal conductivity. This also gives extremely high hardness and a high melting point. Manganese phosphating aids surface lubrication, events surface scuffing and resists rusting during storage. Tin/Copper/Cadmium plating for the rings is also adopted.
